How To Cope With Infertility

Infertility is a difficult situation to be in. It will make you feel incomplete and it will make you feel less as a woman. You are not the only one who are experiencing this though. If you are experiencing infertility, there are things you can do to cope with this situation. Here are some of them:

Understanding Infertility’s Emotional Impact

  • Rejection

It’s not easy to accept that you are infertile but denying it will not make things any better.  It is better to accept the fact that you are infertile as soon as you can.

  • Embarrassment

Being embarrassed about your situation will limit the help you can get. You may feel that you are not the same as the others but hiding your situation will have you miss your chance in getting help from other people.

  • Defeat

You may feel a sense of defeat by not having your own child. All your friends are enjoying motherhood and you will certainly go through a stage where you feel like you have just been defeated.

  • Jealousy And Anger

It’s unavoidable that you will feel angry at yourself for being infertile. Seeing mothers and children will make you feel jealous in every place that you go. Jealousy and anger will make your judgement cloudy.

CopingWith Infertility

  • Acceptance

Accept the fact that you are infertile. Cry yourself out until you grow tired of it. Never blame yourself. Blaming yourself will just hurt you even more. Let people around you know what you are experiencing. Letting them know that you are experiencing infertility will allow them to comfort you. Don’t pity yourself since there are a lot of things that you can to be happy about and still live a meaningful life. Accepting your infertility will give you a better relationship with your partner as well. Shutting yourself away from him will make matters worse. It might even end your marriage. Both of you should accept the situation and help each other get over it. Blaming each other is not going to help.

  • Learn More About Infertility

Learning about infertility will help you cope faster. You will be able to deal with your emotions because knowing more about infertility will give you options on how to solve your problem. You can go to specialists like Professor Ng Soon-Chye to see if there is something that can be done. Let them enlighten you more about what you are experiencing. Understanding your situation will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses as well. These strengths and weaknesses will help you deal with your situation.

Evaluating Your Options To Have A Child

There are different options you can choose from to address the problem. Try to evaluate them and see which will be the best way for you. Here are the options that you could use to have a child.

  • In Vitro Fertilization

If you are willing to spend a significant amount of money, you can choose this option.  You have to prepare your body and mind when you want to undergo to this process. There is a high success rate of pregnancy in this process but it doesn’t mean that you will be 100% successful. It is worth the try though. Go to an In Vitro Fertilization specialist to be educated about this process. You will be advised on the necessary things you need to know.

  • Artificial Insemination

Artificial insemination is an easier process and cheaper compared to In Vitro Fertilization. There are also a lot of success stories of women getting pregnant through artificial insemination. Since it is cheaper, you will be able to try a few more times if it is not successful on your first try. Look for a specialist, like Professor Ng Soon-Chye, who is good in this field.

  • Adoption

This process is not really easy and you have to carefully discuss and plan it all out. You will have a very high chance to be granted an adoption but make sure that your mind is ready for this process. The child you are going to adopt will be part of your family. There shouldn’t be a reason you won’t feel that way.

Whatever your choice is, you have to be ready emotionally and mentally. Be ready to dedicate your time and money. Think positively but don’t expect too much.
